David Fowler David Fowler was born 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He lived there until 1963 when Braniff Airlines moved their corporate headquarters to Dallas, Texas, which employed his father. In 1973, he left for college to study art and architecture. After one year of college, David joined the Navy and was stationed on Guam for 4 years. He returned to college where he was a relatively accomplished and award winning student. His art professors strongly encouraged him to continue his art education but David was disillusioned with academia, particularly after having served 4 years in the armed forces. As a result, and what suits his personality, he is primarily self-taught. From the late 1970's until the late 2000's, he worked in the graphic arts field. Raising a family took precedent. He always painted when he could during the workweek and on weekends. In February of 2009, with his children grown, David became serious with his lifelong interest, and has been painting professionally since. He moved to Madrid, New Mexico in November of that year. "What I am in absolute awe of is the sky. I've never seen skies like this before nor have I seen clouds like this. Some clouds are like great sea going vessels that slowly plow their way without ever changing shape. Some are like swarms of birds that are started and fly away in every direction without ever touching one another. And still others rapidly appear from nowhere and grow and swirl and dance and then vanish. It is in constant movement, horizontally, vertically and diagonally all in real time. The whites are blinding to look at and the darks are a variety of color.
